 1. WHO WE ARE

It's Insight Africa Today, a non-profit independent digital news company I created to provide high-quality, timely and accurate reporting on African affairs, especially security, governance and development in Africa.

My name is Ikechukwu Anthony and I am a graduate of the School of Environmental Design and Technology (Reg. Architectural Design). No. FPOARNA19043). The approach I’ve used in my architectural design background has given me a different perspective on storytelling: every article is a structure that needs a good foundation, planning and attention to detail.

In addition to my architectural studies I have a keen interest in reading and writing. I have also written a publication named G.I.T. (Global Insight Today) which discusses issues of the day affecting our world. My passion for storytelling and my dedication to truth are the driving force behind Insight Africa Today's editorial vision.

2. OUR MISSION

At Insight Africa Today, our job and the job of my staff is to inform, educate, educate and empower our readers with quality journalism that allows them to better understand the world.

Accurate – Each claim, figure and quote has been checked before being published.

Independent – It's our responsibility to serve the public, not advertisers, political parties or outside interests.

- Fair – We include appropriate perspectives and provide adequate opportunities to have subjects respond.

Transparent - We explain how we work, distinguish news from opinion and declare any possible conflicts of interest.

3. EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

All editorial decisions at Insight Africa Today are made with no outside influence, and are made on my own. My editorial philosophy is very simple – we do what we think we do, what we feel is right and what’s good for our readership, not what is pleasing to any particular group.

We do not accept payment for positive coverage. We never post sponsored content without the "Sponsored" label. My and my staff's integrity as editors is a non-negotiable.

4. OUR CONTENT CREATION AND RESEARCH PROCESS

4.1 How We Select Stories

Potential stories are judged for their newsworthiness, relevance and public interest by my editorial team and myself. We make reporting our top priority!

- Educates the public on important issues in Africa

- Encourages accountability of leaders and institutions

- Describes significant events in simple terms

- Addresses concerns that impact communities throughout the continent

Shows awareness of major events in the country and the world.

4.2 Information: Researching and Sourcing Information.

I collect data from valid and trustworthy sources such as:

Official statements from government agencies and public institutions are included.Official statements from government agencies and public institutions are included.

- Court documents/legals papers

- Audio-visual material from the case stations

Records of the public and archives.

- Research and peer-review studies.

I like to use primary sources and original documents as far as possible. If I use anonymous sources, which I do rarely, I need two or more independent sources, and my senior editor's approval.

4.3 Our Fact-Verification Process

All stories in the series go through a very stringent verification process prior to publication. My editors and I verify:

- Facts and figures against several sources

- Names and title for accuracy

- Dates and locations

- Data and statistics

- Quotations and attributions

- Pictures, videos and supporting documents

I don't post speculations or unverifiable statements. When it comes to breaking news, it's never a race to the fastest report, it's about a confirmed one—so when it's time to report on something, I'm very clear on what has been confirmed and don't guess.

4.4 Authority sources in our use

I bolster my reporting with references to trustworthy sources. These include:

Government domain names – Government information and government statistics are available on .gov domain names, such as the Nigerian Ministry of Defense (www.defence.gov.ng) and the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Academic research and studies conducted by recognized academic institutions like the University of Ibadan (www.ui.edu.ng) and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (www.unn.edu.ng) are considered .edu domains.

- Non-protest organizations – Organizations that do not protest against the government and have established a history of integrity in their coverage work.

I also use international standards and best practices for style guidelines from the American Psychiological Association and for fact-checking from the International Fact-Checking Network.

The art of writing a byline and author biography.

Each Insight Africa Today article is credited to an individual author and has an individual author biography page.

6.1 Author Credentials

I think my readers should know my name. My author biographies and those of my contributors contain:

- Professional experience – work history or accomplishments, including educational attainment, institutions attended, and relevant certifications.

- Work experience – Journalism or relevant work experience of years;

- Knowledge – Areas of knowledge or Areas of Focus specific to an expert.

- Startup business activity information – links to startup business pages or professional email address

6.2 About Me – Ikechukwu Anthony A.V. (Founder & Editor-in-Chief)

I am the Editor-in-Chief of Insight Africa Today, and the founder. I'm a graduate of the School of Environmental Design and Technology (Reg. He holds an architectural design degree from No. FPOARNA19043).

My training as an architect has influenced my journalism, with stories needing a foundation, planning and attention to detail. I am a reader and a writer, and am the author of the book, G.I.T. (GOD INFORMED TEXT).

I also have firsthand experience in reporting on security. I have developed contacts and connections within the government and military circles through several years of experience.

7. OUR EDITORIAL PROCESS

7.1 Submission and Review

Each article is reviewed by the editorial staff. My editors and I review:

- Correctness and correctness in facts

- Clarity and readability

- Context and balance

- Grammar and style

- Expertise in keyword research and optimization for search engines.

- Honesty in reporting data and facts

7.2 Approval and Publication

An article can only be published after it complies with our editorial standards. All published articles contain:

- A concise, clear, accurate title

All work must be cited correctly.All sources must be given proper attribution.

7.3 Updates After Publication

As events unfold, so does journalism. I may modify articles to reflect new information that's been verified.

- Add context and additional information

- Advise on correcting inaccuracies (see our Corrections Policy below)

- Incorporate official press releases or new information

- Use a mirror image to show the continuities in the story

8. OUR CORRECTIONS POLICY

Accuracy is important to me. If something goes wrong I fix it quickly and openly.

Students will discover how to cope with mistakes.

Minor errors (typos, grammatical errors) are corrected, but not formally noted.

Errors of major significance (such as incorrect dates, names, factual mistakes, etc.) are corrected with an editor's note providing information about the change and its significance.

Major errors (substantive inaccuracies) are corrected with a prominent correction notice at the bottom of the article.

8.2 Reporting Corrections

Review and rating signals:

I want to invite my readers to review and rate our content with the review and rating signals. At the end of every article readers can rate the article from 1-5 based on "How informative and useful was this article?

I appreciate reader comments, but never let it determine my editorial choices. I take into account reader ratings as one of many factors and it is not a directive. My obligation as an editor is to be accurate and true, not popular.

For articles that are of a more complex nature, they may be reviewed by experts in their field prior to publishing. If the article has been subject to expert review I indicate this. I also periodically audit my editorial processes and make adjustments to my policies as necessary to keep up with best practices.

10. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN OUR USE

AI is a tool to assist in my editorial process, but never to take the place of it.

10.1 How I Use AI

I can use AI to help with:

Research and information gathering

Clearly presents information in an organized manner with some structure.

The language is being refined and grammar is being checked.

- SEO recommendations

- Workflow automation

10.2 What I Do Not Use AI For

I do not:

- Magazine articles written by AI and not much edited by humans.

Avoid relying solely on images from a photojournalistic style, opting for AI-generated realistic photos instead.

Use AI to create quotations or quotes from a source.

Input confidential or source information into AI systems

10.3 Human Oversight

All content created with AI is checked, verified and approved by me and my editorial team prior to publishing. Each article that is published has been written by a human being and is the responsibility of the writer.

11. TRANSPARENCY AND DISCLOSURE

11.1 Conflicts of Interest

All of my authors/editors must disclose any relationship, financial interest or personal connection that could potentially influence their reporting. If there is any possible conflict, I state this in the article.

11.2 Sponsored Content

I clearly differentiate between editorial and sponsored content. The sponsored posts are clearly identified as "Sponsored" or "Advertisement".

11.3 Affiliate Relationships

Insight Africa Today can be involved in affiliate programmes. Affiliate links are clearly marked.

I am dedicated to making sure that Insight Africa Today adheres to the highest journalistic principles. For this reason, I will:

I adhere to the same high standards that are followed by the top news agencies in the world. I cannot do less than that for my readers.
